The first phase (which is still running) covers travel from July 1st until the end of September with government funded discounts of up to 70% on accommodation in Kumamoto and Oita and up to 50% in other Kyushu prefectures.

Compared to the first phase, phase two has slightly lower discounts with qualifying accommodation in Kumamoto prefecture and Oita prefecture receiving up to a 50% discount, and accommodation in all other prefectures in Kyushu (Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Saga, Miyazaki and Kagoshima) receiving up to a 40% discount.

The campaign is co-ordinated by the Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organization with a grant from the national government for the purposes of restoring Kyushu’s tourism industry after the earthquake that struck on April 16, 2016. The earthquake had a particularly large effect on the prefectures of Kumamoto and Oita, which is why more funds are being directed there.
