HOTEL MYSTAYS Fukuoka Tenjin Minami is located in the heart of Fukuoka, only 20 minutes from Fukuoka Airport Station, and ten minutes’ walk from Nakasu Kawabata Station or Minami-Tenjin Station. The shopping area of Tenjin, the nightlife district of Nakasu and the Canal City nega mall are within easy walking distance.

The Rooms

Twin, double and queen rooms are available. Sadly, even with the proximity to the river, the view is blocked by tall buildings. Some rooms have kitchenettes, with plates, cutlery, serving bowls and a microwave oven. This is great if you want to self-cater breakfast or prepare a picnic – although the nearby supermarket is a little limited, so you might want to look around Tenjin for some ingredients first.

The quality of the beds is good with a nice grade of cotton. The pillows are excellent and the rooms are quiet at night. The street that the hotel is on is relatively lively towards the end of the week, so you might get a little street noise on lower floors.

The bathroom is relatively large for a hotel at this price level and it was clean with no hint of mustiness.

The Amenities

All areas of the hotel have wifi, although speeds when we visited were somewhat sluggish. The hotel also has a Japanese restaurant on site. Additionally, there is a machine serving free coffee 24 hours a day. If you’re after an early morning coffee, this may be your best bet as nearby Manu Coffee doesn’t open until 10am – otherwise you’ll have to head over to Tenjin for your early morning caffeine fix.

There is no mini bar and no bottles of water provided.

The neighborhood

The Gion Yamakasa Festival, for which the city is famous, is held in early to mid July each year. The Gion neighborhood is a short bus or subway ride away from the hotel.

The Cheapo Lowdown

Overall, the hotel is good value for money. Great location and good facilities. When booking, we suggest making a special request for a higher floor and a room with kitchenette facilities.
