This is Japan’s only international film festival dedicated to showcasing works by women.
What happens?
Quick — list as many movie directors as you can. Now, how many of them are women?
Held every September in Nagoya, the mission of the Aichi International Women’s Film Festival is to spotlight works by women. Since 1996 it has showcased films from across the world, spanning fiction, documentary, and animation.
Alongside screenings, the festival hosts talks, symposia, and awards that highlight women’s voices and stories.
