Two weeks after the Asian Games wrap up, Aichi does it all again — and this time it’s a first. The fifth Asian Para Games is the first edition of the event to be held in Japan; the four before it went to Guangzhou (2010), Incheon (2014), Jakarta (2018) and Hangzhou (2023).
What to expect
18 sports at 19 venues, with 45 countries and territories sending squads that the organizers put at 3,600 to 4,000 athletes and team officials between them. The program runs from para athletics, para swimming and para table tennis through to blind football, goalball, boccia, sitting volleyball, para powerlifting, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair tennis.
The opening ceremony is at 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 18 at Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in Nagoya — the same stadium the Asian Games used — with the closing ceremony there at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 24.

Tickets 2026
Same machinery as the Asian Games: general sale opened at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, first-come first-served with no lottery and no regional restrictions, and you need a free Supporter ID (ōen ID) registered on the official ticket site before you can buy.
It is the cheaper of the two events by a wide margin. Competition sessions start at ¥500, and opening-ceremony seats run from ¥5,500 up to ¥30,000. An official resale service opened on August 4 for sessions that have sold out — anything bought outside official channels will be refused at the gate. As with the Asian Games, the ceremonies need every attendee registered in advance and ID-checked on entry.
How to get there
Nagoya is about 1 hour 40 minutes from Tokyo and about 50 minutes from Shin-Ōsaka on the Tōkaidō Shinkansen. Venues are spread across Aichi, so check the venue access page on the official ticket site for your session. The organizers have published an accessibility policy covering the venues and transport.
The Asian Games run in the same region a fortnight earlier.
