The Biwako Biennale returns to Shiga Prefecture.

What happens?

Every two years, the Biwako Biennale transforms Shiga’s Lake Biwa region into an open-air stage for contemporary art.

The original goal? To preserve the area’s historic buildings and cultural sites. Since then, it has evolved into a renowned showcase featuring artists from around the world.
