Forget Toho, this is cinema under the stars.
What to expect
This outdoor film festival takes the “outdoor” part very seriously.
Numazu’s Inn the Park, a park-hotel hybrid, turns into an open-air cinema, with three screens scattered across the grounds: a grassy square with glowing domes, a riverside clearing, and a hillside suited to families. The program runs until dawn, with food trucks, craft beer, and a bonfire to keep you going.
Around 30 titles are scheduled, including Call Me by Your Name, Cinema Paradiso, and Aftersun. See the compete lineup here.
Schedule
The festival starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025, and continues through the night until 5 a.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Tickets
From August 20, general admission is ¥14,300, with group tickets priced at ¥51,200 and children’s tickets at ¥2,000.
How to get there
Getting to Inn the Park is easiest if you have a car. It is a bit of a trek via public transport, but there are options.
From Tokyo Station, take the bullet train to Mishima, then switch to the local train and ride until Numazu Station. There, catch the local bus and get off at Ashitaka Sports Venue. Inn the Park is about 10 minutes on foot from the bus stop. The entire journey should take around 2.5 hours. Note that the bus departures are hourly and there are no buses after 6 p.m.
Alternatively, take a direct bus (around 3.5 hours). See more details here.
