Cherry blossoms and Mount Fuji are a match made in flower heaven, so take this chance to visit Lake Kawaguchiko in spring.
Update: Due to the delay in blossoming, the festival has been extended from April 13 till April 20!
What happens?
The main event takes place at Lake Kawaguchiko’s north shore walking path. Expect lakeside walks accompanied by dozens of cherry trees, a few food stalls, a craft market, and illuminated lanterns near Kogamasao Memorial Park from sunset till 9 p.m.
How to get there
The main Fuji-Kawaguchiko Cherry Blossom Festival takes place on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchiko — where you’ll also see an impressive view of Mount Fuji. The event space will take place between Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum and the Maple Corridor. Get off at the stop for the Konohana Art Museum and follow the sounds of revelry.
If you’re coming from Tokyo, we have a whole article on getting to Kawaguchiko and the surrounding area.
Other cherry blossoms in the area
Other cherry blossom festivals in the area include the Arakurayama Sengen Park Cherry Blossom Festival (the highlight is the iconic cherry blossom, Mount Fuji, and pagoda mix).
Also visit Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine and Yagizaki Park.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
