Kyoto’s Fushimi district is one of Japan’s heavyweight sake regions. This sake festival is the ideal time to get acquainted.
What happens?
The Fushimi Sake Fest unites 18 local breweries for a day of ticketed tastings, bottle shopping, and snack pairing, plus satellite events across the neighborhood.
The main action happens at Gekkeikan Showa-gura, a former brewery warehouse turned event space. Inside, you’ll find paid tastings, sales booths, and food stalls from local eateries serving dishes designed to match the sake lineup.
Pro tip: It coincides with the free-to-enter Gekkeikan Sake Festival.
