Gamagori’s summer fireworks are famous for their scale: the show launches three giant shells that bloom across the night sky over the bay.
What happens?
The Gamagori Festival is a two-day summer celebration held around Gamagori Station and the Takeshima Wharf area in Aichi Prefecture, under an hour from Nagoya.
The main event, however, is the fireworks.
Giant shō-sanshakudama shells open into enormous 650-meter blooms — that’s wider than Tokyo Skytree is tall. The show also features dramatic music-synced fireworks and seaborne displays that make the most of Gamagori’s coastal setting.
The main viewing area is around Takeshima Wharf Park.
Schedule 2026
The fireworks are scheduled to take place on July 26, 7:30 to 9 p.m.
In case of rain, the fireworks are expected to go ahead unless the weather is severe. The final decision will be made at 8 a.m. on July 26, 2026. If conditions are too dangerous, the fireworks are expected to be postponed to July 27.
Tickets 2026
There is a special reserved viewing area for supporters. Seats are limited and sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Prices start from ¥6,000.
All seats are reserved. Tickets can be purchased through Ticket Pia online or at Seven-Eleven multi-copy machines.
How to get there
From Tokyo, the easiest way to get to Gamagori is by taking the bullet train to Nagoya Station (around 90 minutes from Shinagawa Station via Tōkaidō Shinkansen). Purchase tickets online via Klook. Then, switch to the local Tōkaidō Line and get off at Gamagori Station (around 40 minutes).
