Ever wanted to see the mystical dragons of the Nintendo Legend of Zelda games “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom” come to life? This is your chance.

What happens?

The Enshu Hamakita Hiryu Festival (Enshu Hamakita Flying Dragon Festival) takes place beside the Tenryu River at Tenryugawa Sports Park in Hamamatsu City. Along with the finale of a 60-meter flying dragon exhaling fireworks, there will be fire dancing, drums, and more activities to get your heart pumping.

Schedule 2024

  • 10:00–16:00: Opening festival and kite-flying competitions.
  • 18:30–21:00: The fire festival will start and include drums, dancing, a torch procession, and of course, the dragon at 20:30.

How to get there

You can easily get to Hamamatsu from Tokyo by taking the Tokaido Shinkansen to Hamamatsu Station in around 1 hour and 30 minutes. You’ll need to transfer to Shin-Hamamatsu Station (around a 5-minute walk) and take the Enshu Railway to Hamakita Station.

There will be a free shuttle bus to the site from Hamakita Station that takes around 15 minutes. Or alternatively, you can take a 30-minute walk from Kobayashi Station (a couple of train stops later).

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
