From the hot spring town that brought you the gloriously odd Dontsuku Festival comes something much easier to explain: summer fireworks over the bay.
What happens?
Inatori Onsen lights up its harbor and seaside viewpoints on eight nights across July and August. The fireworks rotate between three locations: the waterfront in front of Ginsuisō, the clifftop Sunrise Terrace, and Inatori Fishing Harbor. Each spot gives the show a slightly different feel.
Inatori is a seaside hot spring town on the Izu Peninsula known for a certain fertility festival. The classic way to experience the fireworks here is to book a hotel stay, have dinner, soak in the bath, then watch the show from your ryokan or nearby waterfront.

Shows take place at 8:30 p.m. across the three venues.
- Ginsuisō Front: July 20 and August 24
- Sunrise Terrace: July 21, July 23, August 25, and August 27
- Inatori Fishing Harbor: July 22, July 24, August 26, and August 28
How to get there
Inatori Onsen is located along the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture.
From Shinagawa or Tokyo Station, take the bullet train to Atami Station. You’ll want to hop on the Tōkaidō Shinkansen, for which you can purchase tickets online via Klook.
Then, switch to the local JR Ito Line and get off at Izu-Inatori Station.
The entire journey takes around 3.5 hours.
