Joyo’s annual fireworks display is a spectacular autumn tradition, lighting up the sky above the grassy Kyoto Prefectural Kizugawa Sports Park.
What happens?
The fireworks display fills the night sky with coordinated bursts timed to music and lighting effects. Unlike crowded riverside festivals, this park setting provides grassy seating areas and organized facilities — for a relatively affordable price.

This year’s fireworks are scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 7 to 9 p.m. The venue opens up as early as 2 p.m.
Tickets 2026
Ticket sales open on July 25, 2026.
Tickets purchased in person cost ¥2,000, whereas online tickets cost ¥2,500.
There will be no same-day tickets available, so you must purchase in advance.
How to get there
Take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to Nagaike Station (approximately 30 minutes), then walk around 5 minutes to the park.
There will also be free shuttle buses plying from Kintetsu Terada Station.
