Kunen-an, a National Place of Scenic Beauty, will be open to the public this Autumn for a special two-week period.
What to expect
The historic villa and Japanese garden based in Kyūshū is an important cultural asset for Saga Prefecture, with some of the best views Kanzaki City has to offer. Last year’s Autumn public opening drew crowds of visitors looking to enjoy the changing colors of the area’s maple leaves, the green moss of the gardens, and the thatched roofs of the historic villa. This year’s event will see more of the garden open to visitors to explore.
Throughout the 15-day opening, there will also be free local tea and sweets, live music, and food stalls.
Entry
General admission for high school students and older is ¥1,000, entry is free for those with disabilities. Those who live outside of Saga Prefecture are able to pay a ¥4,000 hometown tax donation if they wish to do so.
How to get there
Kunen-an is roughly 10 minutes by local bus or taxi from Kanzaki Station on the JR Nagasaki Main Line. By expressway bus, it’s a roughly 15-minute walk from Kanzaki bus stop on the Nagasaki Expressway.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
