What happens?

This annual fireworks festival is a summer highlight in Nagahama, lighting up the northern shores of Lake Biwa since 1980.

Schedule 2026

The festival is split into two separate sessions. The first event runs for three days from Wednesday, September 16 to Friday, September 18, with fireworks launched offshore from Hō Park at Nagahama Port and paid viewing available at the same venue along the Lake Biwa coast. The show starts at 8 p.m. each night and lasts about 20 minutes.

Another event takes place on Friday, October 16, with fireworks launched from Lake Yogo Fishing Pier and paid viewing at Lake Yogo Green Space. This show begins at 7:30 p.m. and lasts around 25 minutes.
