Nagaoka’s world-famous fireworks light up the night with a Halloween twist.
What to expect
Fireworks for Halloween? To that, the organizers of the Nagaoka Halloween Fireworks say, “Why not?”
For one night only, Echigo Hillside National Government Park will host a 30-minute fireworks show synced to music. The rose garden gets a seasonal makeover too, with jack-o’-lanterns, ghosts, and other Halloween touches. There will also be seasonal illuminations at the park after dark.
Schedule
The fireworks show is scheduled to begin around 6 p.m. The display will last around 30 minutes.
Note that while the park is open as usual from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., you’ll need an advance ticket to enter after 4:30 p.m. To enter earlier, show your ticket.
The event will be canceled in the event of rain. In the event of strong winds or heavy rain, it may be postponed to Sunday, October 26, or canceled altogether.
Tickets
Tickets are available from 7-Eleven and FamilyMart until October 25 (3 p.m.), or until sold out. Prices are ¥2,500 for adults, ¥500 for middle and elementary school-aged kids, and free for preschoolers.
How to get there
The event takes place at Echigo Hillside National Government Park in Nagaoka, Niigata Prefecture.
Getting from Tokyo to Niigata is easiest via bullet train. It takes around 90 minutes from Tokyo Station to Nagaoka Station.
Once you get to Nagaoka Station, take the Echigo Kōtsū bus bound for Echigo Hillside Park (about 40 minutes), then walk around 15 minutes.
