Nagoya Castle’s summer festival returns for nine evenings of community dancing, food, and classic games. Get insight into the castle’s history.
What happens?
At the center of the festival is the Owari/Nagoya‑style Bon dance, with locals and visitors circling the stage in the Nishi‑no‑Maru area.
Snack on summer staples like shaved ice, and try your hand at old-fashioned games like goldfish scooping and shuriken throwing (for ¥500 each).
The Southwest Corner Watchtower, one of only three from the Edo period still standing, opens for a short time.
On the final evening, professionals put on an Owari Tatsuke‑style matchlock rifle demonstration, echoing the castle’s martial past.
