See hot spring demons unleash fireworks into the night sky in Noboribetsu Onsen town in Hokkaidō.
What to expect
Noboribetsu is said to be protected by Yukijin hot spring demons who reside in the town’s Jigokudani Hell Valley. During the performance, demons emerge near the Jigokudani Observatory and set off powerful handheld fountain fireworks that shoot sparks high into the air. The fireworks, combined with the surrounding dark volcanic terrain, sulfur steam, and drum performances, make for a striking experience hard to find anywhere else.
