The Osaka Kansai Expo 2025 fireworks shows — yes, more than one — are expected to be full-scale spectacles, blending traditional Japanese pyrotechnics with cutting-edge drone choreography and projection mapping.
What happens?
The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition is bringing the Japan Fireworks Expo to Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. These fireworks displays aim to celebrate the deep cultural significance of fireworks in Japan, from memorial displays honoring lost lives to competitions where master pyrotechnicians push the boundaries of their craft.
Schedule
Held on select nights between April and October along Yumeshima’s south side seawall, the Expo will feature regional firework traditions from across Japan and artistic displays created especially for the Expo.
Nightly fireworks
Until August 31, there will be nightly fireworks and festivities.
From August 6 to 22 and from August 24 to 31, the Summer Vacation Expo Mini Fireworks will take place, featuring around 140 fireworks over four minutes, set to the Expo’s official theme song.
On Saturday, August 23, the mini fireworks will be replaced by the larger‑scale Japan Fireworks Expo.
Entry
No extra tickets are required. If you’re in the Expo grounds after sunset, you’re in for a show. Times are to be announced.
