Japan’s earliest summer fireworks festival takes over Ginowan Seaside Park’s Tropical Beach.
What to expext
Ryukyu Sea Fire Festival is an elaborate display of over 10,000 fireworks set to music to mark the arrival of summer in Okinawa. Part of the firework display is typically curated by a designer and, in 2026, designer Junko Koshino has taken the reins and prepared designs set to be launched to Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.
In addition to Koshino’s display, the one-hour display will include a Hokusai-themed segment, an Okinawa and Asia-themed segment, an ending part, and a grand finale.
Schedule
The festival area opens at 3 p.m. The fireworks display is set to start at 7 p.m. and go for around 1 hour.
How to get there
The event will be held at Tropical Beach in Ginowan Seaside Park, Ginowan City, Okinawa. There’s a tour package that offers round-trip transfers and optional festival tickets with a shuttle bus running from Omoromachi Station. If you’re driving, you’ll also need to purchase a parking ticket, which costs ¥4,500.
Tickets
Tickets are released in three allocations — lottery, early bird, and general release. Adult general release tickets range in price from ¥5,000 for the “free area” to ¥75,000 for SS tables, which can seat up to four people. Mid-range tickets are ¥8,500 to ¥11,000. Child discounts apply, including free admission in the free area.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
