Seto, one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns (alongside Echizen, Tokoname, Shigaraki, Tamba and Bizen) celebrates its heritage with the country’s largest ceramics fair.
What happens?
Over 200 pottery merchants set up stalls across the city, from everyday bowls and plates to museum-worthy works of art. Wander through the Seto Kiln Zone or discover fresh talent in the Young Artists Zone, while tens of thousands of visitors from across Japan search for treasures. There will also be fireworks.
Schedule 2025
There will be a big pottery market with deals and steals running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 14.
On both days, there will be rows of food stands and festival-style games. These are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Fireworks
On the evening of the first day, about 1,000 fireworks will be launched between 6:25 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.
If bad weather forces a delay, the fireworks will instead take place the following evening, Sunday, September 14, from 6:05 p.m. to 6:25 p.m.
How to get there
From Nagoya Station, take the Higashiyama Subway Line to Sakae (approx. 10 minutes). Transfer to the Meitetsu Seto Line at Sakaemachi Station and ride to Owari Seto Station (approx. 30 minutes). The festival grounds are a short walk from the station. You’ll also find stalls and activities all over Seto during the festival.
