teamLab Future Park and Animals of Flowers, Symbiotic Lives

This limited-time event is an educational project by art collective teamLab, letting you explore ecosystems, slide into flowers, and display your creative side.

The experience opens from 8:30 a.m. on weekends, holidays, and August summer vacations (Aug. 10–18). Last entry is at 5 p.m.

What happens?

teamLab is known for their interactive and effervescent installations. This event lets you see fish sketches swim in a virtual aquarium, collide with reactive seeds and flowers on a slide, and roll a ball of light to change its color. Make sure to check out the Animals of Flowers, Symbiotic Lives II installation, where forms of animals made of flowers change as they are stroked.

Tickets

Weekday tickets are untimed and cost ¥1,500 for adults over 13 years old and ¥800 for children — get them here. You’ll need a separate, ¥300-more-expensive ticket to join the Sketch Factory.

Timed tickets are for weekends, holidays, and between August 10 to 18. They cost the same as weekday tickets but can only be bought through the Sapporo Art Park Museum website.

How to get there

The Sapporo Art Park Museum can be reached from Sapporo Station by taking the subway (Namboku Line) to Makomanai station for 17 minutes and then taking a bus for 15 minutes to the park.
