Tōji Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Kyoto. The Kobo-ichi (also known as Kobo-san) Market is held on the 21st of each month.

Every 21st of the month, the temple grounds host he lively Kobo-ichi Market.
This is your chance to find unique souvenirs and enjoy a truly local Kyoto experience. Even if shopping isn’t on your agenda, wandering through the market is an experience in and of itself, and a must-do activity while you’re in Kyoto.
Named after Kukai’s posthumous title, Kobo Daishi, the market offers between 800 and 1200 stalls selling everything from traditional crafts to food.
History
Tōji Temple, established in 796, is one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks. Originally built as a guardian temple for the city, it has overcome fires and earthquakes.
