Toshio Suzuki and Studio Ghibli Exhibition in Nagano

9:00am – 5:00pm
¥800 – ¥1,800

Learn about the life and legacy of Toshio Suzuki, who has been instrumental in producing iconic Studio Ghibli films.

What to expect

While director Hayao Miyazaki has become a household name, the profound influence of Toshio Suzuki, Studio Ghibli’s co-founder and producer, is not as well-known. This roving exhibition — previous locations include Tokyo, Kyoto, Fukuoka, and Okayama — changes that.

Suzuki has been instrumental in bringing to life cherished films like My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Spirited Away. At this exhibition, attendees can delve into a vast collection of 8,800 books that have shaped his perspective, peruse selections from his personal archive of 10,000 films, and engage with immersive installations, including a towering 3-meter-tall Yubaba and Zeniba fortune-telling display. There will also, of course, be plenty of photo opportunities with iconic characters such as Totoro.
