This immersive ukiyo-e exhibition makes Edo pop (again).
What to expect
This ukiyo-e exhibition with a twist is all about letting the classics move, ripple, and glow around you. More than 300 works by the big names — Hokusai, Kuniyoshi, Hiroshige, and beyond — are animated using 3D CG and projection-mapping.
The show has already pulled in 350,000 people across Tokyo, Nagoya, Milan, and beyond; Osaka’s edition adds a local angle by spotlighting prints tied to the city’s merchant culture and publishing history. There are also real Edo-period impressions and high-quality reprints on display, so you can compare the digital spectacle with the originals.
