If you love Japanese anime, manga, games, and novels, Universal Studios Japan just got a whole lot cooler.
What happens?
Universal Cool Japan is when Universal Studios Japan really leans into what it does best: turning big Japanese franchises into full-on, walk-through experiences.
Each year, the park rolls out a limited-time lineup of attractions based on hit anime, games, and manga novels.
Highlights 2026
This year’s event spotlights hugely popular series like Detective Conan and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Here are a few key events to look forward to:
- Monster Hunter Wilds: Mori Bar’s Feast (until May 17): This is a themed restaurant experience inspired by the Monster Hunter universe. What’s on the menu? Think flame-grilled dishes and a campfire-style setting. Having proven popular in past years, this is a returning attraction.
- Detective Conan World (from January 30 to June 30) – A collection of Conan-themed experiences, including escape-style attractions and interactive story rides. In some scenarios, every participant becomes part of the mystery. See if you can observe, deduce, and successfully solve your way out of this one.
- Keigo Higashino’s Masquerade Series: “The Targeted Masquerade Ball” (from January 30 to June 30) – A live, participatory mystery show based on Higashino’s popular crime novels. Piece together clues as the story unfolds around you.
- Jujutsu Kaisen: The Real 4-D – The Clock Tower (from January 30 to August 18) – This high-intensity 4-D theatre experience drops you into the middle of a cursed battle, complete with motion, effects, and dramatic visuals synced to the story.
Tickets
Tickets for adults range from ¥8,600 for one day to ¥16,300 for two days, with discounts for children and seniors. We have a guide to saving money and also a guide to buying tickets, so make sure you read both before heading to the park.
Buy tickets online and enter the park early.
Another thing you can’t miss are the express passes. If waiting in queues for hours on end isn’t for you, skip the lines on the most popular rides with the Express Pass 4 and Express Pass 7. These let you skip the queues for your choice of up to 4 or 7 rides, respectively. A must-have if you’re looking to make the most of your time here.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
