UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE — the working period-drama backlot long known as Tōei Uzumasa Eigamura — doubles as a theme park, which makes it an unusually good place to be chased by monsters. Each autumn it hands the streets over to yōkai, and the 2026 run stretches from mid-September to the end of November.
What to expect
The centerpiece is a version of the hyakki yagyō, the night parade of a hundred demons, reworked this year around a dancing theme, with costumed yōkai pulling visitors into the procession rather than filing past them.
The setting does a lot of the work. These are the same Edo-period streets used for samurai television, so it is a real film set in low light rather than a generic park in Halloween dressing.
Schedule
The festival runs from September 12 to November 29, 2026.
The park is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with last entry an hour before closing. The studio-lot entrance shuts at 5 p.m., though some areas stay open until 6 p.m.
We haven’t been able to confirm which days the park closes during the run, so treat the official operating calendar as the source of truth and check the specific day you’re going before you travel.
Tickets 2026
Standard admission is ¥2,800 for adults, meaning middle-school age and up, and ¥1,600 for children from age three to elementary school. Under-threes are free. The park notes that admission can vary by visit date, so treat these as the standard rates rather than a promise.
The cheap way in is the night ticket, covering 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at ¥2,000 for adults and ¥1,300 for children. Since the yōkai are a night act, it is also the right ticket.
Festival tickets bundling special merchandise cost ¥3,800 and ¥2,600 for the day version and ¥3,000 and ¥2,300 at night. A pass valid for the whole run is ¥5,500 for adults and ¥3,100 for children.
How to get there
The main gate is a 5-minute walk from Uzumasa-Kōryūji Station on the Randen (Keifuku) line, 13 minutes from JR Hanazono, or 14 minutes from Uzumasa-Tenjingawa on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Tōzai line.
