An extensive Temple grounds featuring a pagoda, cave and inner shrine as well as the largest statue of Kobo Daishi. This is the 51st Temple on the Shikoku 88-temple pilgrimage and is in the East of Matsuyama. The Temple was visited by Kobo Daishi in the year 813 and features statues by prominent sculptor Unekai in the 13th century. Entrance to the grounds is free but it costs 200 yen to visit the treasure house which is open between 8am – 5pm. The website is in Japanese but it does provide this PDF in English.
Dogo Onsen can be reached on the Iyotetsu Tram Line, the Temple is a 20-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Station.
