Janjan-Yokocho (Nanyo-dori Shopping Street)

A 180-meter traditional shopping street in Shinsekai. Famous for its local eateries and game arcades.

As you walk down the street, you’ll come across old-school shops such as a tobacco store and a cosmetics speciality trader. In addition to these, the street is home to the famous Kasuga Gorakujo game center and several shooting galleries. That said, the area is mostly filled with restaurants — especially sushi shops. However, for vegans, a short walk down one of the quieter side streets will lead you to Shinsekai Paprika Shokudo, a restaurant that serves vegan versions of Osaka’s most famous dishes.

How to get there

The best way to get to Janjan-Yokocho is to walk 3 minutes from Exit 1 of Dobutsuenmae Station.
