Shirahama is full of foot baths, and the Mifune Ashiyu Foot Bath is arguably the one with the best view.
Free for anyone to use — well, at least until it closes at 10 p.m. — this ashiyu gives you unobstructed views of Engetsu Island. Although nice throughout the day, the best time to go is at sunset so you can catch the unforgettable sight of the sun perfectly aligning with the island’s full-moon-shaped arch.
How to get there
From Shirahama Station, take the 12 Shirahama Tanabe Line (Sandanbeki via Medical Center) to Shirahama Bus Center. From there, it’s a 3-minute walk. If you’re already at Shirarahama Beach, it’s only a 7-minute walk away.
