Fukuoka is famous for several things, with Yatai (food stalls) being one of them. At Nakasu Yatai Yokocho, you can sample some of the local cuisine including Hakata Ramen, Yakitori, and Oden.

  • Try some yakitori.

Although there are a few Yatai across Fukuoka, Nakasu Yatai has a certain buzz to it, making it one of the most popular. It has about a dozen stalls, each sitting around 8 people, so expect a more intimate dining experience.

As mentioned, some of the food you will find at a Yatai include ramen, yakitori, and oden, but there are also a plenty of izakaya-style dishes and beer to go around too.

Zoom Through Osaka in a Go-kart (Costume Included)
Feel like you are in a video game with this fun go-karting experience. Ideal for small groups, the tour allows you to explore Osaka in a unique and exciting way.

The street doesn’t come alive until 6pm, so we recommend getting there just before that time to avoid queuing for one of the few seats.

Although one or two stalls now do accept card and electronic payments, the majority only accept cash. Make sure to have plenty of cash on hand so you can sample as much food as possible.

How to get there

Nakasu Yatai is located a 5-minute walk away from Kushida Shrine Station. To get there from Hakata Station, take the Nanakuma Line (Local Hashimoto). The overall journey takes 5 minutes and costs ¥210.

If you are feeling some fresh air before filling your stomach, you can walk 16 minutes from Hakata Station to the food streets.
