Unlike Beppu’s other “hells”, the main attraction at this geothermal feature is the large number of crocodiles. Because of the geothermally heated water, the crocodiles are able to thrive all year round – which they have since the crocodiles were introduced in 1924.
Feeding time is at 10am and 2:30pm on Saturday and Sundays and at 10am on Wednesdays.
Entry is 400yen or free if you already have the “Jigoku meguri” concession ticket for 2,000yen.
