A tiered and jagged rock formation which resembles “1000 tatami mats” (hence its name).
When visiting, people tend to walk across the large rock formations and watch the crashing waves in front of them. Many pair this visit with a trip to the Sandanbeki Cliffs, which are about a 12-minute walk away.
There’s also a seafood restaurant nearby, known for its tasty tuna burgers and sashimi.

How to get there
From Shirahama Station, it’s a 25-minute bus ride on the 30 Shirahama Tanabe Line (costing ¥450). The Senjōjiki Rock Plateau is actually nearer to Nanki-Shirahama Airport, only an 11-minute bus ride away on the 102 Loop Bus. This journey costs ¥280. Whichever route you take, make sure to get off at the Senjō-guchi bus stop and then walk for 4 minutes.
