Part of the Pax hostel, Boku no Banh Mi & Akutagawa Coffee is a friendly, community-based café where you grab a coffee, banh mi, and go down a slide — yes, you read that right.

What’s Boku no Banh Mi & Akutagawa Coffee?

Adopting a hostel vibe, this café offers a welcoming base for both guests and passerbys to relax and enjoy some food and drink. It’s the kind of place where you can strike up a conversation with the person next to you — especially since many visitors are internationals. Nomads may also want to set up their laptop and get some work done.

Beyond its warm atmsophere, the café has a rustic charm, with a wooden interior that adds to its cozy feel. Those who visit will feel right at home. The vinyl collection displayed at the back is open for you to browse, and you can even request specific albums to be played.

To add to the fun, there’s a slide — intended for kids — that leads from the cubby-style second floor down to the main area. Inside, you’ll also find Pax Hostel-themed merchandise and locally made goods for sale. Occasionally, there’s even a secondhand clothes rack set up outside.

There are three types of freshly made banh mi (including a vegetarian option), priced between ¥650 to ¥700. The drinks selection is modest, featuring an Americano, latte, cappucino, matcha, and lemonade. Prices vary from ¥350 to ¥700.
