Dacomecca Bakery is a trendy and social-media-worthy bakery in Hakata. It is the creation of the geniuses behind the iconic I’m donut?.
What’s Dacomecca Bakery?
Described as a “Bakery Circus”, Dacomecca Bakery is a paradise for bread lovers. Offering an impressive selection of savory, sweet, rustic, and baguette bread, you are sure to discover something new and original. There is even a charcoal grill at the front, where sausages and other meats are grilled for use in the savory breads.
Given the overwhelming selection and the limited time to decide while in line, we recommend preparing ahead of time and taking a peek at their delicious doughy delights here. Prices per item range from ¥150 to ¥572.
After making the difficult decision of what to try, you can enjoy your baked goods in the small seating area at the back. Note that to eat here, you’ll need to order at least one drink, and tables cannot be reserved in advance. There’s a mini microwave available to heat up any of your savory, mostly cheesy breads.
What to know before you visit Dacomecca Bakery
Do you need reservations Dacomecca Bakery?
Due to its popularity, this bakery does not accept reservations. However, they do offer a service where you can order and pay for your bread in advance. By doing this, you can simply walk in and pick up your bread without waiting in line.
If you want to eat in or see the selection in person, then there’s a good chance you will need to wait. We visited on a Saturday morning around 8 a.m., and we found ourselves waiting in line for about an hour. This seems to be the average wait time, considering that its sister brand, I’m donut? is well-known for long queues.
To avoid the wait, we recommend arriving by 7:30 a.m. Once inside, the line moves swiftly along, so make sure to grab what you want as you go, since it’s hard to go back to the start.
