In the Moon Bar is the perfect destination for a rooftop cocktail at the end of a long day exploring Kyoto.

What to expect

Situated near the Kamo River, just off of Gion’s famous Hanami-kōji Street, In the Moon is uniquely situated to catch a sunset view of the city. As the sun dips behind Arashiyama in the west and the lights come on at Minamiza Theater across the street, grab a drink and a balcony seat and rest your tired legs before dinner.

The bar is open from 6 p.m. until 1 a.m. seven days a week, but it fills up quickly. If you want to get a good spot for sunset, we recommend lining up early.

How to get there

In the Moon is on the rooftop floor of the Kamogawa Building in Nakanochō, a 3-minute walk from Gion-Shijō Station on the Keihan Main Line.
