Located inside Porta Dining at Kyoto Station, Manshige Shoan offers traditional Kyoto-style cuisine — perfect for enjoying local flavors before heading to your next destination.

What’s Manshige Shoan?

The restaurant specializes in Kyoto-style teishoku lunches using popular ingredients like yuba (a soy-based delicacy), as well as seasonal fare.

Notable menu items include the Kyoto rolled egg, made with bonito broth, and seasonal sashimi. Beautifully presented, the food here makes you feel as though you are dining in a traditional townhouse rather than a station.

We visited during Setsubun, a traditional holiday that revolves around throwing soybeans at oni (Japanese demons) to drive out bad luck. During Setsubun, there are special foods you eat for luck, so we ordered the special Setsubun set which included ehōmaki (thick sushi roll) and a variety of beans. Such sets cost between ¥1,700 to ¥2,000.

There’s an extensive drinks list to choose from, including various beers, shochu, and local sake. Prices range from ¥600 to ¥800 (¥400 for soft drinks).
