Escape the chaos of Kawaramachi and enjoy some Zen at RIN Kyoto. Tucked away from the main street, this narrow matcha shop serves up Uji matcha for you to sip in peace.
What’s RIN Kyoto?

This small space serves up premium matcha — both hot and iced. The minimal menu includes your classic hot Uji matcha, strawberry matcha latte, and an iced matcha latte with ice cream and mochi. For some drinks, the matcha is decorated with golden flakes giving it an esthetic appeal.
There are also two desserts available, including matcha ice cream and matcha and chestnut zenzai. If you aren’t much of a matcha lover, there is also hojicha. Prices range from ¥500 to ¥1,200.
What is more, this café offers a tea-ceremony experience for ¥3,000 and sells matcha powder to take home as a souvenir. You’ll also notice that the walls are covered in kyogawara, a type of traditional tile made in Kyoto. You can buy coaster versions of these tiles here as well.
