Offering handmade soba and stunning views of the Bamboo Forest Path, Soba and Fish Hiroshige is the ideal setting for a traditional Japanese lunch.

What’s Soba and Fish Hiroshige?

Located inside a 100-year-old wooden house, this restaurant specializes in soba and fresh seafood. The soba noodles, Nihachi soba (known for its smooth texture), are carefully prepared by hand every morning — ensuring the highest quality.

There are a few soba sets on the menu, including the basic Special Seiro Soba set and Seiro Soba set with fresh local sashimi. They differ in price, ranging from ¥1,380 to ¥3,680. Note that there is an additional ¥500 fee for extra soba, and ¥400 for the dipping sauce.

In addition to soba, you can try seasonal local fish and vegetables. Each day, the fish is directly shipped from Numazu Port. From sashimi to tai-meshi (sea bream rice), there’s a variety of ways to enjoy it. The rice is also sourced locally, from the Shuzenji area itself.

For those who want to sip on some sake, there are six kinds to pick from. All locally made in Shizuoka Prefecture, some of these bottles are hard to find anywhere else.

As you eat, you can take in the beautiful forest surroundings, as well as experience traditional Japanese dining by sitting on tatami mats.
