The Aichi Triennale is a large-scale contemporary arts festival that takes place every three years.
What happens?
From the ancient kilns of Tokoname City to the traditional tie-dye techniques of Arimatsu town, Aichi boasts a deeply artistic heritage.
So it only makes sense that this craft powerhouse of a prefecture also plays host to one of Japan’s most ambitious contemporary art festivals. The Aichi Triennale is all about bold artistic exploration — with a special emphasis on artists from the Global South.
Highlights 2025
Under the theme A Time Between Ashes and Roses, curated by Hoor Al Qasimi, president and director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, the Triennale invites reflection on the fragile space between destruction and renewal, examining our relationship with the environment — and each other — through art.
This edition brings together 60+ international and Japanese artists working across contemporary art, theater, dance, and more.
