Atami Marine Sea Fireworks Festival 2024

8:20pm – 8:40pm
Free

The Atami Marine Fireworks have been lighting up the east coast of the Izu Peninsula since 1952.

Pro tip: Consider a day tour to Atami from Tokyo that includes the fireworks and Mt. Omuro or another excursion that stops at either Kamakura or Hakone.

What happens?

Taking place more than ten times throughout the year, these fireworks are especially popular during the summer months. Settle down on the sandy Sun Beach of Atami Bay and watch the lights reflect off the water.

From July to December, there will be food and drink stalls at Atami Water Park.

Schedule 2024

In July and August, the fireworks run for five minutes longer than usual.

  • Spring: May 2
  • Summer: July 26 and August 5, 8, 18, and 23
  • Autumn: September 16, October 14, 19, and November 4
  • Winter: December 8, 22 and March 23, 2025

Other fireworks in Izu

  • Izu Yugawara (at Izumi Park): July 27 at 8:40 p.m.
  • Mt. Izu (at Izusan Port): July 28 at 8:20 p.m. and August 3 at 8:20 p.m.
  • Izu-Taga (at Taga Bay): August 12 at 8:20 p.m.
  • Ajiro (at Ajiro Bay): August 16 at 8:30 p.m.

Just below Atami, Ito Onsen also has their own fireworks festival throughout summer.

How to get there

Atami is easy to get to from Tokyo. The Shinkansen takes 45 minutes to Atami Station from Tokyo Station. If you don’t have a rail pass (or want to make things cheaper), then the journey takes either 1 hour and 20 minutes via the Odoriko Line or 1 hour and 45 minutes via the Ueno-Tokyo Line/Tōkaidō Line.

Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
