This is one of southern Japan’s biggest fireworks displays.
What happens?
The Beppu Fire Sea Festival (Beppu hi no umi matsuri) takes place at the end of July and culminates in one of Kyushu’s biggest fireworks displays.
The festival features a yatai (open-air food stand) village, art markets, dancing and music.
