Plum blossoms, food stalls, and quirky contests. That’s early spring at Osaka’s Expo ’70 Commemorative Park.
What to expect
Get ready for a stroll through a sea of 600 plum trees in full bloom across Bampaku-Kinen-Kōen’s Natural and Cultural Garden and Japanese Garden. On weekends, there are tea ceremonies and a variety of stalls vending all kinds of plum-related goods.
Feeling competitive? Test your skills at the umeboshi or pickled plum pit-spitting championship or see if you can keep a straight face at the so-called “sour face contest”.
Schedule 2026
The festival takes place from February 7 to March 8, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last entry at 4:30 p.m. each day. The park is closed on Wednesdays except for the public holiday on Wednesday, February 11; it will instead be closed on Thursday, February 12.
