This fireworks festival is touted as the best in the whole of Kyūshū.
What happens?
On length alone — at 2 hours and 15 minutes — this is certainly one of the longest fireworks festivals in Japan. 22,000 pieces will be launched.
Given the size of the Huis Ten Bosch Theme Park, getting a comfortable spot to watch the fireworks from outside might be a little challenging.
Schedule 2025
The evening starts at 6:45 p.m. with opening fireworks to mark the beginning of the show.
At 6:50 p.m., the first half of the 12-inch fireworks shell competition begins. These are massive fireworks, each shell more than 30 centimetres across, launched by 15 different pyrotechnic makers competing on colour, design, and timing.
At 7:00 p.m., a special collaborative show between Dutch and Japanese pyrotechnicians takes place, followed at 7:15 p.m. by another international collaboration with Portuguese fireworks masters.
Around 7:30 p.m., fountains of water combine with fireworks overhead.
After a short pause, the second half of the 12-inch shell competition begins at 7:55 p.m., featuring another 15 makers.
At 8:05 p.m., the programme shifts to a huge musical fireworks display, where 10,000 fireworks are precisely timed to a soundtrack over the course of 20 minutes.
The night closes with a dramatic grand finale: 5,000 fireworks launched in just five minutes, filling the sky almost continuously, before the event wraps up at 8:30 p.m.
