The Inuyama Matsuri is held at the beginning of April in the city of Inuyama in Aichi Prefecture.
What happens?
Coinciding with the blooming of the cherry blossoms, the festival features processions of three leveled dashi — traditional wheeled floats. The festival dates back to 1635 and was officially recognized by the Japanese government in 2006 as an “Intangible folk cultural property” — presumably for the insurance. There are parades both in the morning and the evening, when the floats are adorned with bright lanterns.
