20th Kyoto Intercollegiate Festa

11:00am – 7:00pm
Free

The 20th Intercollegiate Festa is a display organised by the students of Kyoto aimed at bonding with the local community as students make up 10% of the city’s population. The entertainment ranges from Parades to food to dance competitions, all in the heart of Kyoto.

The opening ceremony is a grand procession with over 1000 dancers, a stunning Mikoshi parade and marching bands, among other things. Throughout the day there will be performances for the Kyoto Student Music Award from acoustic musicians and bands as well as singers. There is the Kyoto Flame Show Dance Competition where teams will compete in a variety of genres in front of a seated audience. You can also watch the Kyoto Student Fashion Awards on the catwalk with traditional and modern creations. There will be food stalls serving all the festival favorites as well as international dishes and games and events run for children too.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, many events have been canceled. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
