Hiroshima Prefecture is famed throughout Japan for its oyster industry, so Miyajima (Itsukushima) with its strong connection to oyster farming is the perfect place for such an event.
What’s more, from a cheapo angle, the festival offers good value with oysters selling from 100yen each – much cheaper than the crazy prices paid for the same product in Tokyo.
As if the oysters alone weren’t enough, there will also be a stage with taiko drumming entertainment.
The festival takes place in front of the Miyajima Pier.
