The Osaka Kansai Expo 2025 fireworks shows — yes, more than one — were full-scale spectacles, blending traditional Japanese pyrotechnics with cutting-edge drone choreography and projection mapping. And now, the centrepiece of those displays is getting a second life.
What happens?
The Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition launched the JAPAN FIREWORKS EXPO as part of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, bringing together some of the country’s most respected fireworks makers under one banner. The project highlighted fireworks as both an art form and a cultural practice in Japan.
Following its popularity at the Expo, the Japan Fireworks Expo will return in 2026 as a standalone event. Organizers have confirmed plans for a one-night-only revival, with fireworks on the same scale as — or larger than — those seen at the Expo, this time lighting up the skies of southern Osaka.
Schedule
The event is scheduled for April 4 (Saturday). Unlike the Expo edition, which ran on multiple nights between April and October, the 2026 event will take place on a single evening.
How to get there
The organizers have announced southern Osaka as the planned area, though the exact location has yet to be confirmed.
Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.Add to Calendar
