Held in Wakayama since 1948, this festival sees over 3,500 fireworks light up the sky. One of the highlights is the 1000 m-long Niagara Falls display, which creates a waterfall of fire. The best place for viewing is Shirahama Beach, which will be filled with Yukata-clad couples and plenty of food stalls.
This event is the start of the summer fireworks displays in Shirahama – small fireworks displays take place on most evenings throughout July and August, with August 10 being the biggest display.
