For the first time in three years, the Tonegawa Fireworks Festival will be held at Sakai Riverside Park. While usually happening in mid-July, they postponed the event in 2022 to September due to the pandemic.
Award-winning pyrotechnicians will go head-to-head as 30,000 firework shells will shoot into the sky for 90 minutes. The fireworks will synchronize with lights and music as the whole of Ibaraki is illuminated.
How to get there?
The riverside is only accessible by bus from either Koga Station or Tobu Dobutsukoen Station. You can also get there directly from Tokyo with a highway bus.
While visible from a number of spots, you will need to pay to enter the majority of Sakai Riverside Park. This is to better manage visitors. Tickets start from ¥2,000 and go up to ¥10,000 for an arena seat.Organizers may cancel events, alter schedules, or change admission requirements without notice. Always check official sites before heading to an event.
