Held monthly at Umekoji Park in Kyoto, the Umekoji Handicrafts Market is a haven for craft enthusiasts and lovers of all things handmade. With 300 or so stalls, artisans and vendors from across the region gather to showcase their wares. Expect to see everything from ceramics and textiles to woodwork, accessories, and local treats.

Schedule

The market runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month, except for January and May.

How to get there

Umekoji Park is easily accessible from Kyoto Station. Take the JR Sagano Line to Umekoji-Kyotonishi Station (a 2-minute ride). The park is a short 5-minute walk from the station.

Alternatively, it’s a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station.
